Man on the Balcony: A Novel

INTRODUCING

Marie B. Pinschmidt

Artist and Writer

Marie has been a painter for over thirty years. Her oil paintings are included in corporate collections including Tulane Medical School and The AmStar Corp. (Domino Sugar) in New Orleans, La, The Thomas Center in Gainesville, Florida, and Sheraton at St. John’s Place Hotel in Jacksonville, Fla. She has exhibited through galleries in New Orleans, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, as well as St. Petersburg and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

For eleven years, the artist studied and exhibited in New Orleans where she was affiliated with the Lampe Gallery of Fine Arts. She studied under former Cuban artist, Leopoldo Giraudy, Batista’s personal artist prior to the Castro regime, with special emphasis on portrait painting and techniques of the Old Masters. She studied Modern Art Theory at the University of New Orleans, and attended portrait seminars by John Howard Sanden, portrait artist and instructor at the Art Student’s League in NYC.

Marie’s work has gained considerable recognition not only for portraits but seascapes, landscapes and floral painting, as well as abstraction. Her range is varied and technique is determined by her feeling for the subject. “The same rules of composition, perspective, and color harmony apply to all subjects.” A serious and dedicated artist, she constantly strives to further and broaden her artistic horizons. She leans toward a more impressionistic approach.

The artist has taught painting in Gainesville, Fl., Savannah, Ga., and Wilmington, N.C. She was twice featured on television through Art Quest Gallery in N. C. She is a member of the National Association of Women in the Arts.

The artist is also a writer with two published romance novels - MAN ON THE BALCONY, and recently published sequel, MAGGIE’S RETREAT. Both books draw heavily from her own life experiences and training as an artist. Her essays have been published in national magazines including “The Artist”. She is also a staff writer for the PGA National newspaper, CAN.

Her aim is to be truly original in her work and to provide an intimacy between her fans and the art she produces. “My hope is that the viewer will momentarily stop and rest awhile in front of each canvas, or find renewal and hope in the artistically written pages of her novels.” Her paintings are not reproduced in any way so the collector can be assured his purchase is a genuine work of art.

As a writer and painter in oils, having lived in Ohio, New Orleans, and Florida, Pinschmidt draws on her own experiences to bring life to the characters and settings of her novels. Her next novel is Spanish Moss, based in New Orleans. For autographed copies, e-mail  MariePin001@comcast.net or call 1-561-624-9003.
